Pest Control Wasps

All wasp nests start in the spring, and never later than May. They will start with one wasp, and can grow to having 10,000 wasps by the end of the autumn. If the nest is treated in the autumn, you may still find dying wasps for up to 20 days after the treatment. Treated nests are guaranteed never to be used again, by any wasp.

Pest Control Wasps

Wasp nests are treated with a chemical called “Ficam D” which contains the chemical, Bendiocarb 1% w/w. This is a very modern insecticide, which is not highly toxic to mammals, but is highly toxic to the hymenopterous group of insects, i.e. wasps, bees and ants.

After treatment the nest can remain in a hyperactive state for up to 3 hours, but generally the activity will cease much sooner. A treated wasp nest will never be used again by other wasps, nor will wasps move from one nest to another, or start a new nest mid season.
